Why is an engagement session important?

Engagement sessions are my favorite. Let me tell you why! They're SO fun. When you book me for your wedding, the engagement session is the perfect opportunity for you to get comfortable with me in front of the camera! Let's be real, being in front of the camera for the first time is so intimidating (I have a really hard time myself lol). Once you're comfortable with me, the wedding will be so easy.

Your engagement session is also an important moment to celebrate a milestone with the love of your life.

I've compiled some tips to help you feel prepared and so you know what to expect when we shoot together!

This is your time to celebrate your love, your union, and your connection.

This is your time to celebrate your love, your union, and your connection.

1. Wear something that makes you say "damn" when you look in the mirror.

Wear clothes that really match your vibe. It can be casual, it can be more formal. But what's important is that you're comfortable with what you're wearing. My favorite piece of advice is to sit, stand, spin, bend over, raise your hands, move around in your outfit and see if something looks off when you do this! As long as it's flattering, you're gonna love how you look in your photos.

Of course, you'll receive a special Outfit Guide from me with more details on this, and I'm always happy to help! I have a good understanding of what would look good on camera!

2. Make it an event!

Plan this session like you're going on a date. Make dinner reservations somewhere afterwards and be intentional with your time together. This is YOUR time to connect as a couple. This isn't my personal shoot where you're just my models- this is a moment where you can get excited for your future.

3. Be open and positive.

Don't worry- I'm not gonna make you like make out and roll around in public lol. BUT the more you trust the process, the better your photos will turn out. Listen, I can tell when the vibes are off between you two. You'll look all stiff and awkward, and that's just not a fun time for anyone. Before you arrive to your session, connect with each other and get excited to celebrate this huge moment in your lives together.

4. Be on time.

Lighting. Lighting. Lighting.

Your session's starting time was determined by lighting, and I can guarantee the sun won't wait for you lol. I always recommend arriving to our spot early! I'll get there early of course, but you should too so that we don't lose any time! The last thing I'd want is to cut our session short. I want to give you the best experience possible, but I can't if you're not even there!

5. Have fun with it!

Don't take anything too seriously. Life is more fulfilling when you look for fun in everything you do anyways. You're doing an engagement session with me because you trust me. Don't overthink it, and you'll have a great time. Focus on your partner and nothing else! This is YOUR session, I want you feel comfortable and ready to have fun.
