Imagine driving up the PCH and pulling into a spot on the side of the road. You watch the sunset from a cliff overlooking the empty beaches of Malibu with the love of your life.
The most IDEAL date night, am I right?
Jessica and Jason reached out to me because they wanted some engagement photos somewhere in Malibu. They eloped, but never got their engagement photos- so naturally, they had to get them done before their actual wedding! They recently moved to LA from Chicago, so they wanted a beautiful location that had cliffs and a beach (something very Californian). I chose this special spot for them because I wanted our session to be very private, and to be able to get a couple different backdrops. This location was versatile, in that we were able to start at the top of the cliff, and then make our way down to the empty beach. We watched the sunset from the beach, and blue hour hit us with all it's glory. I love sticking around for a little bit after the sun sets because the lighting gives a completely different feel for photos. It's darker, a little moodier, and a little more dramatic. These photos really speak for themselves.
Their priority was capturing in-between moments. They were not interested in very curated poses that looked stiff, and they definitely wanted to feel as comfortable in front of the camera as possible. She told me prior to our session, "I don't want to remember worrying about wear we place our hands, I want to remember just having fun." I immediately got excited because I love helping my couples with this! Engagement photos should be a fun experience! It shouldn't feel like work. I wanted to make sure they had fun with each other first, because then I could do my thing and capture those candid, in-between moments.
